Introduction
Unit 35 is Digital graphics for interactive media. During this unit I had to pick a theme that I would like to base our production off, AvAlon, BotZ,Master at Arms, Meta-tropolis and Gliese 581. I decided to pick AvAlon as I am into swords and sorcery and it left open many ideas for later tasks. I also had to create a logo which would be placed on all of the work I created during the unit. Another project we had to work on during the unit was a splash art that was to show a promotional/interactive image for your theologically game.
Task 1
Task 1 was creating a logo that represented me as a whole, whilst presenting our style of work. I am into pixels so that started my logo design and I work from there to create my final logo. I have a more detailed analysis of this here: http://udgim.blogspot.com/2014/05/logo-analysis.html Here is also my final logo design that I have decided to keep.
Task 2
For task 2 we had to create a Prezi or a Power Point presentation that explain multiple topics within digital graphics. A couple of topics we had to talk about were things like; investigate the applications of interactive media graphics, investigate file extensions used in digital graphics. The Idea of this task was to make sure I understood different parts of graphics that I would need to create a image that would later become a splash art.
When I started the Power Point presentation I started rethinking what I already knew and noted them down so I didn't forget them later. I then looked at what I needed to understand and then started looking them up for examples and what they are used for. Once I had found a couple I then implemented them into the presentation and then worked on the next item I had to understand.
As a Power Point presentation I could have added animations and other stuff that would of made it look all fancy, but I didn't want to spend time on the parts that weren't needed so I could focus on the main problem which was the information. I uploaded the presentation online so it was accessible through the blog:
Task 3
Task 3 was our biggest project for this unit. Splash art. We had to pick a theme which was in the scenario and then start thinking about what the splash art could be to do with that theme. I came up with a few ideas, none of which were brilliant and which I didn't take note on what they were. I started thinking of ideas that could be a possibility, I came up with a promotional poster that would give an idea of what the game would be about, I soon scraped that idea because I didn't have enough time to create a poster with so much details. I then came up with image that could be used in steam, such as buttons that would link to its own page, again I scraped the idea as I couldn't think of what to place on the image. I finally came up with the character customization tab which would have been interacted through the start up menu for the game. I started with tracing swords which I then added and removed different parts making the sword my own, once I finished the sword I started the tab shape and then placed the swords inside and making it clear with character customization typed inside, making it clear for users to see.
My final copy of the splash art ended up looking like this.
If I were to redo this unit again I would try to manage my time a little better as I kept using last resort ideas as I couldn't keep one idea simple. I would also note down any ideas I came up with in case I needed it later. Overall I though this Unit was done OK to what I could have done, and it was any better was because I didn't show much interest in the unit, but if I were to do it again I would try a lot more to make each task better quality.
